Friday morning Big Cat Rescue announced through Facebook that some of their workers are making their way from Ohio back to Florida with an exotic cat in tow.
The unfortunate cat that will now call Big Cat Rescue home is a female cougar named Maya.
According to Big Cat Rescue, “She is 18 years old (which equates to about 100 in human years) and was voluntarily surrendered by her owner to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.”
We wonder if the owner actually surrendered the cougar by their own choice or if this is another case where law enforcement would have forcefully seized the cats if they hadn’t.
Either way, this is probably a great money making opportunity for Big Cat Rescue since they get to raise donations without having to care for the cougar for very long since it's elderly.
