From time to time we will patiently watch one of Big Cat Rescue’s livestreams. Most of the streams don't contain anything worthwhile, at least for us anyway. So we’re glad we managed to sit through the one we will be focusing on this article.
During a livestream on Monday, Carole Baskin, CEO and Founder of Big Cat Rescue, claimed that she is currently in the process of obtaining a jaguar and leopard to add to her ever dwindling collection of exotic cats. Carole says:
It’s not a secret that Big Cat Rescue is a highly notorious and controversial facility in the exotic animal world. So it always comes as quite a shock when someone willingly retires their cats with them.
An interesting side story that developed from the same livestream pertains to an idea Carole has regarding zoos:
If Carole actually believes in ending the need of seeing animals in cages why hasn’t she closed her facility to the public? Also, does she plan on implementing this idea at her facility?
Seeing living, breathing exotic animals is what draws so many people to zoos. So we have a hard time believing no jobs would be lost if zoos had no animals. They wouldn’t even be zoos at that point.
