Crackle
(Deceased Caracal)
DOB 4-1-92

Carole tells us that Crackle's owner was a breeder who was a good friend of Don's and that Don tried to buy Crackle every time they visited. Don was finally successful on 12-9-1994. Crackle was bred to Cachanga and they produced Rusty and Rose on 3-28-1997. Unless you believe that you "rescue" and breed cats and sell or make pets of their cubs, these 4 cats, Crackle, Cachanga, Rusty, and Rose, were not rescued.

The Evolving Stories

Wildlife On Easy Street 1997

"a female Caracal Lynx born 4/1/92 arrived on 12/9/94 as a three year old and was very thin. She's the sweetest Caracal we've had. Her name was given to her, making fun of the ignorant USDA inspector who came in when she was just born and said "Oh look! A litter of crackles."

Wildlife On Easy Street 1999

"Crackle arrived on 12/9/94 as a three year old and was very thin. She's the sweetest Caracal we've had. Her name was given to her when a USDA inspector who came in when she was just born said "Oh look! A litter of crackles." He obviously did not know how to pronounce the name, and it was so cute it became her name! Crackle was a good friend of Don’s and every time he visited the breeder he tried to buy her. Finally, in December, 1994, the breeder decided Crackle would have a better life on Easy Street and she has been here ever since. Crackle is very unusual in that she will allow humans to handle her babies and she will raise any type of young given to her."

Big Cat Rescue 2006

"Crackle arrived at Big Cat Rescue on 12/9/94 as a three year old and was very thin. She's the sweetest Caracal we've had. Her name was given to her when a USDA inspector who came in when she was just born said "Oh look! A litter of crackles." He obviously did not know how to pronounce the name, and it was so cute it became her name! Crackle was a good friend of Our Co-Founder’s and every time he visited the breeder he tried to buy her. Finally, in December, 1994, the breeder decided Crackle would have a better life on Easy Street and she has been here ever since.  We do not breed Caracals."
