Fluffy
(Serval)
DOB 6-16-1993

Fluffy's onetime biography on BCR's website said that she "came as a result of the pet trade". Carole tells donors that she has always been upfront about the origins of her cats. Why then the deceit? On the Bay News 9 video expose' you can listen to reporter Chris Hawes interview Fluffy's previous owner Sandy Flaherty. Sandy states that Fluffy was sold as a pet and possible breeder. Carole paid $1000 each for Fluffy and her sister Muffy.  The price and whereabouts of their brother Tuffy are unknown. None of these cats were rescued, abused, or abandoned.

The Evolving Stories

Wildlife on Easy Street 1997

"A female Serval born 6/16/93 came to us just weaned from Oregon, with her sister Muffy and her brother Tuffy. Their mother was very gentle and allowed their previous owner to co-raise them. She has always been extremely affectionate and lived in the house until she was about a year old. She was raised with Bobcats, domestic cats, Lynx, and Cougars, but Servals are great hunters and fishers and she found much more happiness in the pen on the lake. She has escaped a couple of times, but when she does, she just comes looking for us."

Wildlife On Easy Street 1999

"Fluffy came to Wildlife On Easy Street from Oregon with her sister Muffy and her brother Tuffy, just after being weaned. Their mother was very gentle and allowed their owner to co-raise them. Fluffy has always been extremely affectionate. She lived in the house until she was about a year old, but Servals are great hunters and fishers and she found much more happiness in a pen on the lake. She delivered her first litter, sired by Frosty, on 11/13/96. She produced both White-footed and Black-footed kittens."

Big Cat Rescue 2006 (Ant people?)

"Fluffy came to Big Cat Rescue from Oregon as a result of the pet trade. Fluffy was always been extremely affectionate until she became an adult.  Servals are great hunters and fishers and she found much more happiness in a pen with trees and logs to investigate.  Fluffy learned her patience from watching the Ant people.  Ant people know that at the end of the line is the sweet victory of success. Fluffy knows that all that is good will come to her if she is patient and she advises us to work for the good of the colony and the good of the Universe will come to us."

Big Cat Rescue (present)

"Fluffy came to Big Cat Rescue from Oregon as a result of the pet trade in July of 1993. Fluffy was always been extremely affectionate until she became an adult.
Servals are great hunters and fishers and she found much more happiness in a natural enclosure filled with trees, palmetto bushes and logs to investigate.
She is quite shy and will usually retreat to the cover of foliage when her enclosure is approached by keepers. However, she is a cat and curiosity always gets the better of her causing her to come out into the open to observe nearby activity."
