Don Lewis, owner of Wildlife On Easy Street, has been missing since August. But that hasn’t stopped a visitor to Lewis’ animal preserve from suing him over a cougar bite he says was inflicted at the attraction.

Timothy Evans says in a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Hillsborough Circuit Court that because of the owners’ negligence, he was “severely bitten on his left forearm” by a South American cougar in 1995.

Don and his wife, Carole Lewis, are named in the lawsuit, along with Wildlife On Easy Street.

The Lawsuit says the Lewises invited Evans to their home and the preserve with the purpose of letting him “commingle” with the animal, named Tobie. They told Evans the cougar was “tame and friendly” and failed to warn him of its “dangerous propensities.”

Carole Lewis could not be reached late Wednesday.
