Nakita (Deceased Bobcat)

W.O.E.S Safari Guide:  "Nakita came with Czar to live on Easy Street in 1992. She was sold to us as a Eurasian Lynx, but even now that we know better, we love her, rare or not. She delivered two kittens within a couple of weeks of her arrival, but was very nervous and ran with one until it died and then trampled the other. We tried to save the second kitten, but the damage had been done. A year later, more comfortable in her surroundings, she gave birth to Alexander and then in 1996, Des-PURR-Ado and Ninja".

A mother cat does not run with a kitten in it's mouth until the kitten dies, unless she is being chased. This would explain Nakita accidentally trampling the second kitten, but who was chasing Nakita, and why? Carole obviously witnessed Nakita running with the kitten. Could she have been trying to take the kittens from her to bottle raise in the house as she was so fond of doing? Socialized kittens brought more money when advertised in The Animal Finder's Guide.

Carole's inventory coupled with her USDA acquisition forms tell us Nakita and her mate Czar were purchased for $750 each from Grady McGee of S.C. in 1992 and used as a breeders. Nakita was bred at least 2 more times after her first kittens died.

The tale Carole tells of how her sanctuary began has always been that she bought a bobcat as a pet in 1992, went looking for another in 1993, discovered a fur farm, and bought all 56 kittens to rescue them. Carole cleverly omits the fact that she had already purchased cats to breed in 1992, even before claiming to go looking for a pet and  "rescuing" the fur farm kittens the following year.

Carole admits in her Safari Guide that she 'found homes for' (sold) all but a few of the bobcat kittens. Some of these few that were not sold were bred and their kittens sold through The Animal Finder's Guide. Look for Raindance who gave birth about the same time as Windsong and Little Feather!

You do not rescue cats to buy, sell, or breed them. The 56 fur farm kittens, Nakita, Czar, 2 kittens that died, Alexander, Despurrado, Ninja, Raindance, Windsong, and Little Feather were not rescued from abuse and abandonment.
