"Tarzan came to Big Cat Rescue in the Spring of 1995. His owner had purchased him for the purpose of breeding hybrids, but Tarzan hated domestic cats and so became worthless to his owner. When Tarzan arrived, he was neutered and placed in a large natural enclosure with a very feisty female Jungle Cat, Shaniqua. He fell in love with her right away and the two have been"
The Rest of The Story
There was a male Jungle Cat named Tarzan born 6-1-94 and purchased at Lolli Bros auction on 12-8-94 for $200. Carole's female Jungle Cat, Shaniqua was also purchased from this same auction on 9-19-94 for $475. When Carole realized that Shaniqua and Tarzan had the same birthdate and were probably brother and sister Tarzan 1 was traded for Tarzan 2 who was born 5-1-93 and swapped for in the Spring of 1995. These cats were obviously bought for breeding. Carole says, "They have been breeding for years , but have never produced any offspring".
Carole bought other animals at this auction including 2 coatimundi for $575 each, an Indian Civet for $575 and a wallaby for $800. I wonder if she wants us to believe that she "paid their ransom" to "rescue" them also? These animals were probably sold after Carole was twice turned down by AZA to become a zoo and decided to convert her cats to rescues and become a sanctuary instead. Unless you believe that you "pay their ransom" to "rescue" cats from auctions and then attempt to breed them, these 3 cats, Shaniqua, Tarzan 1 and Tarzan 2 were not rescued.
